Showcasing a year of in the life of a bear family, mother Sky teaches her two impressionable cubs, Amber and Scout about most important lessons of life. What puzzled movie lovers most is how to remove DRM protection of M4V movies Bears bought or rented from iTunes.
- #2So... It's not just me then..... I am having the same problems.
I want to be able to get the recording off the Sky+ box without going through the lengthy process of having to record them on my PC while I sleep.
I have had a look at copy+ which just makes a COPY of the progtam in the format that ONLY the Sky+ box can read.
I also found on the copy+ site a program called +extract. This program extracts the programs you want <AND> it can convert them to MPEG.
+extract sounds the better one to use.
The only snag (for me) is that the Sky+ HD is RAID. I have 2 PC's, 1 Old RAID type and 1 New SATA. On the old one the boot drive is VERY small so I cant save to that and +extract is unable to network and the guy who wrote the program is not going to bring out any updates anymore
What I'd like to know too, is what are the USB sockets on the Sky+ box for, I have 1 at the front and 1 at the back. I contacted my locat PC retailer and they said it would'nt be a good idea to connect the Sky+ box directly to my PC as it whould blow them both.
Hope I've been of some advice - #3Hi there
I have a slight prob where there a docu series on nat geo channel but my parents dont have sky. can I download from sky player onto a hard drive so I can put on dvd.
Thanks
No, you can't record anything from SkyPlayer. If it is a downloadable program you can only watch it on the PC you downloaded it on (unless you have some kind of DRM removal program). - #4No, you can't record anything from SkyPlayer. You can, because I DO.
Just connect the Sky+ to a TV card installed in your PC and use the software to record it, that simple:)
I use Easy MPEG MX to split the files and Daniusoft Media Converter Pro to convert them to whatever format I want - #5You can, because I DO.

What's that got to do with SkyPlayer? - you're simply using your computer to record the analogue output from the ky box, just like a VCR. - #6What's that got to do with SkyPlayer? - you're simply using your computer to record the analogue output from the ky box, just like a VCR.
Sorry, I probably didn't get your point, what did you mean? - #7Sorry, I probably didn't get your point, what did you mean?

You're far better off attaching a DVD recorder to the sky box and copying it off that way but I assume you don't have one or you would already?
Now it would be very wrong of me to suggest you go somewhere like mininova and do a search for national geographic so instead I'll just suggest that you could get a video capture card of some description and connect the sky box that way, which may be cheaper than buying a DVDR...
I have had a look at copy+ which just makes a COPY of the progtam in the format that ONLY the Sky+ box can read.
Yep COPY+ is for transferring your programs when you replace / upgrade the disk in the SKY+I also found on the copy+ site a program called +extract. This program extracts the programs you want <AND> it can convert them to MPEG.
+extract sounds the better one to use.
+extract will only allow you to view programs that were broadcast free to air, it doesn't strip out any of the protection and was never intended to do so.The only snag (for me) is that the Sky+ HD is RAID. I have 2 PC's, 1 Old RAID type and 1 New SATA. On the old one the boot drive is VERY small so I cant save to that and +extract is unable to network
Are you think PATA/SATA? anyway, suggest you might find help here:

He released a new version two weeks ago, and is still developing itWhat I'd like to know too, is what are the USB sockets on the Sky+ box for, I have 1 at the front and 1 at the back. Wasn't PC World by any chance was it? Anyway the USBs will either be wired for power, in which case you can use them to charge a mobile phone etc, or not wired at all in which case you can use them as a cable tidy. they will not connect you to the sky box however. They are mainly there to annoy people. - #9AFAIK, it's only the Pace boxes that have the USB ports wired up; Thomson and Amstrad's are just there for display purposes only.
- #10AFAIK, it's only the Pace boxes that have the USB ports wired up; Thomson and Amstrad's are just there for display purposes only.
They are all 'wired up', but disabled in the software (or rather not enabled at all) - some boxes did (or do) have the 5V supply to the socket enabled, but on some boxes this was turned off in one of the software updates.
The USB sockets were introduced ready for the release of a portable 'SkyPlayer', where you could download to a special Sky branded device. However, due to rights problems in doing so, the scheme was completely scrapped the other year. Not to say it might not be resurrected one day, as they haven't removed the ports from the spec - but they never seem to remove unused hardware from the specs anyway. - #11Are you think PATA/SATA? anyway, suggest you might find help here:

He DOES NOT have a Sky box, he is talking about Sky Player on the PC!!! - #13He DOES NOT have a Sky box, he is talking about Sky Player on the PC!!!
Oops...
Sorry, my fault for miss-reading
Pete - #14I'll have another go then....
Have you got anything like Daniusoft Media Converter Pro It can convert DRM music and video.
I've not tried it myself yet to see if it works but I will when the Sky engineer comes round on Monday to fix my Sky+ box (it has error 29, I have allready checked the other thread on it) I will give it a go.
What, if any editing/converting sw do you use as I use Easy MPEG MX to split my recordings but it is not very precise like Nero Vision. I am currently on the lookout for a better program.
Pete - #15He DOES NOT have a Sky box, he is talking about Sky Player on the PC!!!
Sorry, I didn't realise you can get skyplayer without a sky sub I just assumed he had to have one to get the other - #16Sorry, I didn't realise you can get skyplayer without a sky sub I just assumed he had to have one to get the other
Other threads on digi spy suggest you can, if he has sky but his parents don't then, he can get it on their PC but he can't get it on his own. I think.
If true could be a nice little money spinner, anyone interested in who**ng out their sky player? - #17You can't have two running at the same time but you can pick 4 locations.
I don't have Sky yet (just SkyPlayer) but it seems as if you can make subaccounts in MySky that allow SkyPlayer to work. - #18Sorry for resurrecting an old thread, but I am looking at a way of saving Movies from SkyPlayer (mac). Could I use a screen capture tool to do this?
